I designed and built this site myself. The minimal UI contrasts well with the over-engineered technical aspects. As with my other projects, this site is free/libre software and open-source, with the source code available on GitHub to use as you like. You can learn from it, fork for your own site, file issues for improvement and contribute back to it (thank you).

I sometimes write about interesting things related to this site under the "portfolio" tag.

Ideology

This site subscribes to many IndieWeb tenets such as data and domain ownership, open-source tools and longevity of plain text files. I plan on integrating more IndieWeb technologies such as RelMeAuth and Webmention in the future.

Typography

The site uses two typefaces.

• Inter by Rasmus Andersson, as the sans-serif typeface. Inter is famously readable at all sizes and weights, for both headings and body text.
• JetBrains Mono by JetBrains (duh!), as the monospace typeface. I use the Nerd Font variant as my programming font, so I can vouch for its readability.

Both typefaces are open-source, licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Technology

One of the reasons why this site exists is to be the playground where I experiment with new technologies. So it's a bit ironic that the finished product is a collection of static HTML and CSS, with JavaScript notably being optional.

• The source code is in TypeScript and uses the Astro framework with Tailwind, because I like my JS strongly typed, my HTML broken into components and my CSS tokenized.
• Vercel automatically deploys the site for each commit pushed to GitHub, manages SSL and enables rollbacks. I do not use their analytics and speed insights features.
• Open Graph images (e.g. this one) are generated with @vercel/og. I love automation for tasks like this that are otherwise impossible to do manually with consistency.
• GoatCounter provides privacy-friendly metrics without adding too much bloat. Data is only retained for 31 days. You can opt out by disabling JavaScript in your browser.
• Unless otherwise specified, images are made by DALL·E because I am bad at making those. All text is written by me, a real human, but that does not imply I am any good at it.
• My interactive résumé and some other parts of the site generated from a JSON file using Récivi, a personal endeavour to create a new kind of résumé that is optimised for computers.

Writings

To push myself to write more, and often, some posts follow the digital garden approach where I publish them before they're completely ready and continue to work on them after that. Posts of such nature will carry a living document notice so that I can cycle back and eventually complete them. Feel free to nag me to do so.
